Derry News — Making history: Students preserve Derry's past at local museum

DERRY — They’re all about history and keeping Derry’s rich past and traditions alive and organized.

A group of junior historians are volunteering at the Derry Museum of History. They visit the downtown venue located in the Adams Memorial Building every week to help categorize the artifacts and collections that come in to the museum.

Their help is key, museum supporters say, when it comes to maintaining the many exhibits and items that need to be archived.

The group got its start when students were attending Derry’s St. Thomas Aquinas School, becoming friends and taking a big interest in history and the community’s rich past.

St.Thomas teachers Sue Gauthier and Erin Gagliardi took the reins, forming an official history club and eventually helping students hone their interests in the past.
